Broke Girls Guide: Selena Gomez

I have a dirty little secret that only a few people know; I'm a celebrity stalker. Okay, I'm not looming around bushes and following celebrities so that I can snatch them up. This day and age you don't need to actually stalk to know celebrities every move. That's what paparazzi and the internet is for. Pinterest, really, is my true obsession (yes, I know the basic white girl comments that come along with this statement). I love spending hours looking at celebrities day to day outfits and daydreaming of winning the lottery so I can buy these $1000 ensembles.

That's when I decided that instead of robbing a bank or writing the next great novel I could simply combine my love with shopping to find great (and cheap) alternatives to outfits. One of my favorite style icons right now is Selena Gomez. She has a way of making everything look so casual and so sophisticated and edgy at the same time. One of her common outfit moves is distressed jeans (example 1: her music video for Good For You). One outfit that looks casual yet sophisticated was the white button down shirt and distressed jeans. Not to mention this outfit is relatively cheap to put together (an extra bonus!).

While it's hard to find a matching pair of denim, it is not impossible. Windsor has a great selection of denim if you want to explore your own style. For this ensemble, I chose these pairs because they are a great match that and are comparatively cheaper while still being high quality.

The great thing about her top is that it looks great on everyone, is easy to find, and can be worn with various outfits. In my opinion, a simple button down should be in every closet. You can dress it up or down and will always look professional (even in a casual outfit).

For her shoes I found a few cute pairs of wedges that are a beautiful nude color but if your a member of JustFab (which for shoe-crazed lovers I would definitely urge you to give it a try) they have a flirty version of wedges that made me swoon.

If you know me you know I'm a connoisseur of cheap and cute jewelry. If you are looking for cheap jewelry that looks fantastic, Charlotte Russe is a great start. They have an excellent variety of different pieces that are adorable and inexpensive. The sunglasses, on the other hand, are always a little bit trickier to find great dupes for. You can either buy the original pair from Gucci (but that might set you back a few hundred dollars) or you can pick one of these shades to frame your face.

All in all, this outfit is definitely one that you can mix and match with. With a little research (and a paycheck) you can always find great affordable alternatives to outfits you love.
