Skin Chronicles: Rose Hip Oil

When it comes to skin products all of my friends will tell you; I have an obsession with buying anything new to try it out. For years I have always been obsessed with finding new lotions and serums that are not only going to make my skin look amazing but have ingredients that are healthy for my skin. I've never been a person to break out or have acne problems, but I do have incredibly dry skin that has always been a problem. I was in the store a few weeks ago and found a big bottle of Rose Hip Oil that sounded heavenly so, of course, I had to give it a try.

I've heard about Rose Hip Oil from different sources but never really thought about trying it. I've been now using this product for about a month, and I'll never go back. If you love the smell of roses and have dry skin, this is the oil for you. Derived from a specific rose, this oil is made with a cold press extraction that separates the oil from the hips of the rose hip plant. It consists of essential fatty acids, vitamin E, vitamin C, and B-carotene.

Benefits of rosehip oil include:

  • Anti Aging Properties
    • Improves skins moisture, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and stimulates collagen production.
  • Photo-Aging Protection C
    • Combats free radicals that cause damage and improves tone, texture, and pigmentation with the fatty acids.
  • Scar Treatment
    • Helps reduce scarring and promotes skin regeneration.

On top of all this, it also helps improve dry, dull hair (and who doesn't love a product that helps both hair and face?). I usually put it on before bed so that it can soak into my skin throughout the nighttime but you can also add a few drops to any moisturizer or body lotion for silky smooth skin. I've also tried adding a few drops to my conditioner and really focus on the ends of my hair.

All in all, I give it a huge thumbs up. The bottle I bought was inexpensive, and you only need a few drops making this bottle last for months. If you love versatile products that are organic, this is definitely the oil for you. You can buy this fantastic product at any drugstore, and Sephora has a fantastic selection of toners and products that include Rose Hip Oil.
