Broke Girls Guide: Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood is the girl next door. She is a sweet country gal with one hell of a voice. Coming from the Midwest, I relate a lot to Carrie's day to day outfits. They are easy to put together and still embody that sweet little town feel while being chic and stylish. In all honesty, not only do I have a lot of the outfits she wears (well, cheaper alternatives) but the things I don't own I crave. While we should never care what other people think, some outfits are a little too loud for some States (including the one I live in).

Carrie wears outfits that stand out yet don't make you feel like you are a sore thumb in a crowd. This, in my opinion, is a great outfit that can be utilized in more ways than one. It is simple, girly, and effortless to copy inexpensively. If you love this outfit (or individual pieces), I have cultivated a list of great alternatives for you to add to your own closet.

Denim can be your best friend or your worst nightmare. I usually go for a skinny high waisted jean since it is slimming to my body and doesn't give the muffin top appearance. Dark denim is great for slimming and looks great on every individual. Are you taking notes? Out of all of these pieces, this should be a staple in your wardrobe. You can dress it up with a cute blouse or just rock a simple white t-shirt and feel sexy. I personally have two pairs that are my must-have items for everyday wear.

You would think denim would clash, but it doesn't (unless you are trying to pull off Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake circa 2001). A denim jacket can be a comfort blanket that you didn't know you needed in your life. Feel like an outfit is missing something? Throw on a denim jacket! It amps up any outfit. Just make sure to have it mismatch your jeans, otherwise, you might find some clashing issues.

This shirt is great for music festivals and a fun night out. It adds a little something to the typical white t-shirt. Not into fringe? You can always pair this with a simple tank or shirt you feel comfortable in. I personally love this because it adds a little flair that is necessary sometimes. You can rock this going out to lunch or wear a pair of cute shorts to go rocking your favorite concert.

Booties and fall are a match made in heaven. Yes, we all know my love for booties is endless. As a tall girl (who doesn't like to point out my height) I love these shoes because they add this chic vibe without making me too tall (although, you can buy taller boots). When it cuts off at the ankle, it gives you a more elongated feel that knee-high boots sometimes take away. Stick with a beige or brown pair so that you can comfortably wear them with anything in your closet.

Like a music festival, accessories are always needed. Obviously, she doesn't look to be at a festival, but you can still add some fun color to this otherwise simple outfit. I'm a sucker for turquoise and love that she has incorporated a few pieces into this. Her ring might cost more than my house (and might mean something a little more special), but that doesn't mean you can't add a chunky ring for fun. Don't like what you see? You can mix and match what you already own or head to any store and find some cheap bangles to add to your collection (Forever 21 is a great starting point).
